Dubai, Sep 29: In celebration of World Tourism Day, Dubai Police has strengthened its luxury patrol fleet with the addition of three high-end Mercedes-Benz vehicles, enhancing both tourist safety and the city’s iconic police presence.

The new additions — Mercedes SL 55 AMG, Mercedes GT 63 AMG, and all-electric Mercedes EQS 580 — were unveiled by Brigadier Saeed Al Hajri, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation, during a special ceremony attended by top Dubai Police officials and executives from Mercedes-Benz’s regional team, including Thomas Schulz, General Manager of Mercedes-Benz Cars.

The SL 55 AMG is a high-performance convertible with a 4.0L V8 biturbo engine delivering 469 bhp, accelerating 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. The GT 63 AMG, a four-door super coupe, produces up to 630 hp and 900 Nm of torque, reaching 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. The EQS 580, Dubai Police’s flagship sustainable patrol car, features dual electric motors generating 525 bhp, a 120 kWh battery offering up to 700–800 km per charge, and AI-driven interiors for futuristic policing.

Brigadier Al Hajri highlighted that the luxury patrols will enhance police presence at tourist hubs including Burj Khalifa, Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, and JBR, offering real-time assistance, guidance, and security to residents and visitors alike. He also praised the long-standing collaboration with Mercedes-Benz dealer Gargash Enterprises.

Thomas Schulz of Mercedes-Benz said the partnership underscores a shared vision of sustainable, modern mobility while enhancing operational efficiency for Dubai Police. The event concluded with an exchange of commemorative shields, symbolising the ongoing strategic alliance.

These vehicles continue Dubai Police’s tradition of blending luxury, innovation, and community service, demonstrating that their supercars serve not just as showpieces but as functional tools for public safety.
