New Delhi, Sep 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated India’s ninth Asia Cup title following a thrilling five-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday, drawing an unusual parallel with Operation Sindoor.

"Operation Sindoor on the games field. The outcome is the same – India wins! Congrats to our cricketers," PM Modi wrote on X, referencing India’s decisive military strikes in Pakistan in May alongside the cricket victory. The remark highlighted India’s dominance over Pakistan both on the field and in past military operations.

On the pitch, the standout performer was Tilak Varma, whose composed half-century, supported by crucial partnerships with Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube, steered India to victory. The win secured India’s second T20I Asia Cup title and overall ninth Asia Cup trophy, including the ODI editions.

Under captain Suryakumar Yadav, India’s T20I record remains formidable, having won 18 matches, lost just two, and tied two since he took over the captaincy. The victory reinforced Team India’s continued dominance in the shortest format of the game.
