Mangaluru: St Agnes College pays tribute to Kannada literary giant Dr S L Bhyrappa

Mangaluru, Sep 29: St Agnes College library, in association with the Department of Kannada, held a solemn and heartfelt Shraddhanjali (tribute) to honor the life and legacy of Dr S L Bhyrappa, an eminent Kannada novelist and philosopher.

The event began with a silent prayer, observed by faculty, students, and dignitaries, as a mark of respect. Floral tributes were offered to Dr Bhyrappa, symbolizing the deep admiration and gratitude for his contributions.

“A simple personality can elevate humanity to great heights. Dr Bhyrappa is a shining example of this” said Sr Dr M Venissa AC, principal and president of the programme, in her heartfelt homage.

Dr Shailaja K, Department of Kannada, spoke about Dr Bhyrappa’s life and his literary service.

Dr Vishala B K, chief librarian, remarked that it is because of literary figures like Dr Bhyrappa that Kannada literature has reached great heights.

The programme was anchored by Dr Bastiyam Pais, assistant professor, Department of Kannada.

Dr Clement D’Souza, academic advisor, the library staff and students were present to pay their respects.

Dr S L Bhyrappa’s legacy continues to inspire generations of readers, writers, and thinkers. His voice may be silent, but his words will echo through Kannada literature for years to come.
