Gurugram, Sep 30: A software engineer allegedly strangled his wife following a domestic dispute and later ended his own life, police reported on Monday.

The accused, Ajay Kumar (30), resident of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, reportedly sent a video message to a friend on Sunday at 3:15 pm stating that he intended to commit suicide. His wife, Sweety Sharma (28), originally from Asansol, West Bengal, had been married to Kumar for three years. Both were employed at an IT company in Gurugram.

Authorities said that upon receiving the alert from Kumar’s friend, police reached their flat in Sector 37. They found Sharma’s body on the floor, with a scarf used to strangle her. Kumar was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan.

While initial indications suggest that Kumar killed his wife before taking his own life, the exact motive behind the incident remains under investigation. Sharma’s family has filed a complaint, alleging murder. Police are continuing their probe into the tragic case.
