CoBRA Jawan dies of snakebite during anti-naxal operation in Jharkhand

West Singhbhum, Oct 1: A CoBRA battalion jawan, Sandeep Kumar, lost his life after being bitten by a snake during an anti-Naxal operation in West Singhbhum district, Jharkhand, police officials confirmed on Wednesday.

Kumar, a member of the 209 CoBRA battalion, was engaged in an operation against a proscribed Left Wing Extremist group in the Nurdha jungle, within the limits of Chotanagra police station, when the incident occurred.

He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment but succumbed to the venom, the state police headquarters said in a statement.

Authorities expressed condolences and assured that safety measures for personnel deployed in such high-risk operations would be reinforced.
