Drunk Delhi teacher refuses to pay for food delivery, misbehaves with cops

New Delhi, Oct 1: A schoolteacher in Delhi’s Narela landed in trouble after refusing to pay for a food delivery and misbehaving with police officers who responded to the delivery partner’s call. The man, identified as Rishi Kumar, was found heavily drunk and forcibly taken to the police station on Monday evening.

According to police, delivery partner Arjun had gone to deliver food when the customer forcibly took the order without paying. Arjun alleged that he was abused and manhandled, following which he called the police.

ASI Deshpal and Constable Ravish reached the spot and questioned Rishi Kumar, who allegedly hurled abuses at them. As he appeared intoxicated, the policemen asked him to accompany them to the hospital for a medical test. When he refused, he was forcibly escorted. The medico-legal test later confirmed alcohol consumption.

CCTV footage from outside the building, showing the cops dragging Rishi Kumar down the stairs, went viral on social media. The video also captured the delivery partner at the scene, with some users questioning the police’s handling of the situation.

Police clarified that Arjun did not lodge a formal complaint as he had further deliveries, but the teacher was counselled and released after being sent home. Officials further revealed that Rishi Kumar had also given a false name during the medical test.

An inquiry into the matter is ongoing.
