New Delhi, Oct 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the Dussehra celebrations organised by the IP Extension Ramlila Committee in East Delhi’s Patparganj on Thursday evening.
According to officials, the Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive at the venue around 6 p.m. and will take part in the traditional Ravana Dahan ceremony, which marks the triumph of good over evil.
This is not the first time PM Modi will be part of the capital’s Dussehra festivities. Last year, he attended the historic Luv Kush Ramlila at the Red Fort grounds along with President Droupadi Murmu. Both leaders had jointly ignited the effigies of Ravana, Meghnath and Kumbhkaran. During his address, PM Modi highlighted the festival’s timeless message of courage, peace, and the victory of truth.

In 2023, the Prime Minister graced the celebrations at the DDA ground in Dwarka, where he called upon citizens to adopt ten pledges, including extending support to at least one underprivileged family. He also urged people to root out social evils like casteism and regionalism to strengthen social harmony.
The Patparganj celebrations this year are expected to witness a massive turnout, with elaborate security measures in place ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit. Organisers said they look forward to welcoming PM Modi as he leads the ceremonial burning of Ravana’s effigy amid the chanting of “Siyavar Ramchandra Ki Jai” and festive cheer.
