Media Release

Mangaluru, Oct 2: Carmel School, Kotekar, observed Gandhi Jayanthi on October 2 with great respect and reverence to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.

The programme commenced with a meaningful prayer service led by the teachers, invoking peace, harmony, and gratitude for the timeless values Gandhiji gifted to the world. This was followed by the floral tribute to Gandhiji’s portrait, as staff and students paid homage in silence, honoring his sacrifice and contributions to India’s freedom struggle.

During the prayer service, special intentions were offered, highlighting Gandhiji’s principles of truth, non-violence, simplicity, and service to humanity. Students reflected on the relevance of these values in today’s world, as guiding forces in building a peaceful and united society. The significance of the day was further enriched through short readings, reflections, and prayers, encouraging young minds to imbibe and practice Gandhiji’s ideals in their daily lives.

To mark the occasion, staff and students actively participated in Shramadan (voluntary service) by cleaning the school premises and its surroundings. This activity truly reflected Gandhiji’s message of the dignity of labour, cleanliness, and social responsibility.

The solemn observance concluded with a pledge to walk on the path of truth and non-violence, contributing towards the growth of the nation in a spirit of peace and harmony.

The celebration, enriched with prayer and service, left a deep impression on everyone present, reminding all that Gandhiji’s vision continues to guide and inspire generations towards a better world.
