Shahjahanpur, Oct 6: A 45-year-old man was allegedly shot dead by his cousin following a dispute over removing a dog’s carcass in Shahjahanpur, police said on Monday.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Dwivedi informed that family members told the police one Vivek Saxena had run over a stray dog with his car three days ago. When his cousin, Pramod Saxena (45), asked him to remove the carcass, an argument broke out between the two.

On Sunday night, Vivek, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, went to Pramod’s house in the Badoozai locality of Sadar Bazar area and shot him dead with a country-made pistol, the SP said.

The accused fled the scene soon after the incident. Police have launched a search operation to trace and arrest him.
