Ajman, Feb 12: In its endeavor to bring communities together from all over UAE while motivating kids and people of all age groups to promote healthy lifestyle and fitness via running, jogging and walking, the 2012 Annual GMC Ajman Fun Run under the theme “Your Health Matters” was hosted recently in the grounds of Gulf Medical University, Ajman.
Around 1500 participants comprising of 9 schools, men, women, corporate teams including members of the Body & Soul Health Club & Spa and the Fire Fighting Services, Sharjah participated in the grand 2012 Annual GMC Ajman Fun Run. The grand events of 3 km race for boys and girls under and over 12 years, 7 km race for men and ladies and 7 km race for corporate teams was flagged off at the starting point by Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Thumbay Group, UAE.
Master Hussain and Master Naseer won the first and second prize in the 3 km race for boys under 12 years, Asha and Farzanah Shafi won the first and second prize in the 3 Km race for girls under 12 years respectively. Master Sharath S.M. and Master Mohamad Mustafa Othman won the first and second prize in the 3 km race for boys over 12 years while Mariam Salah and Nassim Hassan topped as first and second prize winners in the 3 km race for girls over 12 years. The 7 km race for Men was dominated by Luke Bahador and Ahmad Shan being the Runner Up while Ms. Farah Kazemi and Ms. Lamia were the winners and runner up in the 7 km race in the women’s category. Sefwan Syed, Evangel Soleman, Brendra Sequina emerged as winners while Aasif Iqbal, Sharad Kumar and Saji Sathyapal were runners up in the 7 km Corporate Race. Al Ameer English School and Iranian Private School bagged the Award for Best Schools with highest number of participants.
Prof Gita Ashok Raj, Provost of Gulf Medical University, Prof Mohd. Arifulla, Dean-Office of Ad ions and Registers, GMU, Akbar Moideen, Director of GMC Hospitals, Dr Manvir Singh, Medical Director, GMC Hospital awarded the trophies, prizes and certificates to the winners of the prestigious events.
Besides the regular races, various fun activities such as Aerobics Demonstration, Cycling Studio Demonstration, Face Painting, Baloon Folding, Kick Boxing, Karate were also held during the event. GMC Ajman Annual Fun Run, 2012 was sponsored by KEF Holdings, Techno Gym (The Wellness Group), UAE Exchange, Al Rawabi, Leader Sports, ZO & MO Opticals, Blends & Brews, The Terrace Restaurant, Gulf Medical University, Thumbay Builders, GMC Hospital. The entire event was organized by Body & Soul Health Club & Spa, the Hospitality Division of Thumbay Group.
Maximum support was extended by Ajman Police to the grand event . A Certificate of Cooperation was presented to them for their valuable support to the entire event by ensuring traffic free tracks for the participants.
In view of the astounding success of the 2012 Annual GMC Ajman Fun Run and to promote healthy lifestyle and fitness, Body & Soul Health Club & Spa at Qasba, Sharjah will organize a similar event in the mid of March, 2012.
