Udupi: Youth ends life by jumping into Suvarna river at Manai

Udupi, Oct 7: A youth who had been missing since the afternoon of October 4 has reportedly died by suicide by jumping into the Suvarna River near Manai bridge.

The deceased has been identified as Jayanth Nagesh Desh Bhandary (34), a resident of Kuntuvani village in Bhatkal. He was residing in a rented house at the HUDCO Colony in Manipal.

According to reports, he parked his bike near Manai bridge before going missing. It is suspected that due to mental distress or some other personal reason, he took the extreme step between 3:50 pm on October 4 and 10 am on October 6.

A case has been registered at the Hiriyadka police station.
