Mangaluru, Oct 9: The LCS Annual Sports Week 2025 was celebrated at Lourdes Central School on the theme ‘Expressions in Motion: Strength and Synergy’ on October 9 in the School Ground. The celebration began with the proud entry of the school band, setting the rhythm of the day. Following them were the house captains Pranjal B of opal house, Jemimma Karkad of coral house, Jaden Saldanha of jade house, and Tanusha Malli of amber house, carrying their house flags high with pride and honour. They were joined by our NCC Pilots – Shiv Sorake, Nireekshith U P, Royston Karkada, Darlish D’Souza, Rhea Uchil, and Sinchana Shetty of classes VIII and IX – carrying the School Flag and marching with discipline and confidence, symbolizing strength and responsibility.
Accompanying them were the esteemed dignitaries: Fr Johnson L Sequeira, the principal, Anitha Thomas, the vice principal, Fr Arul Joseph, Veerendra Alva, and the sports ministers Shreyas Bhat of class XIIB and Ania Mascarenhas of class XD, escorted respectfully by the physical education teacher Vishwanath Devadiga, as they proceeded to the flag post. The principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira hoisted the flag followed by the singing of the School Anthem.





















The programme began by invoking God’s blessings and saying the universal prayer, followed by the prayer song ‘Power of Your Love’ led by our school choir. Pratham and Shambhavi of class IX to delivered the welcome address. The dignitaries inaugurated the LCS Sports Week 2025 by opening the dome and lighting the candle, that marked the beginning of a week filled with strength, synergy, and sporting excellence, and beautifully symbolizing the spirit of energy, teamwork, and perseverance.
The centrepiece was wonderfully designed and crafted by Shaun Moraes of class VIII, who also offered a glimpse of its intricate details. The students took the Sports Week pledge, led by Raiden of class IXD, to affirm their commitment to teamwork, discipline and the true spirit of sportsmanship. Aadhya Shetty and Rhea Uchil of class IX B gave a glimpse of the significance of Sports Week and engaged everyone with their lively and interactive dialogue. As they say, ‘Aerobics is the art of moving your body with energy, rhythm, and joy’, the students of class IX displayed lively aerobics’ performance set to music. Up next, was a captivating skit titled ‘Together We Rise’, showcasing teamwork, perseverance, and the spirit of unity that motivated the students to achieve more, both on and off the field.
The principal, Fr Johnson L Sequeira, addressed the gathering on the occasion of the inauguration of LCS Sports Week 2025. In his message, he emphasized that while winning is indeed memorable, the ability to rise after a fall is itself a true mark of achievement. He congratulated all the students and urged them to participate in Sports Week 2025 with joy and enthusiasm.
The programme came alive under the able compering of Sinchana Shetty, Monish Ravuri, Aadhya Bhat, and Shourya Shetty of class IX.
