Coast Guard conducts mock maritime security operation off Mangaluru coast

Mangaluru, Oct 10: The Indian Coast Guard conducted a mock security operation on Thursday to demonstrate emergency response measures in the event of a maritime crisis or enemy attack at sea.

The demonstration was held around 12 nautical miles off the coast, in the presence of invited dignitaries, Coast Guard personnel, and members of the media, who departed from the New Mangalore Port aboard the Mangaluru-based ship Vikram.

The exercise, organized by the Indian Coast Guard District Headquarters – Karnataka under the aegis of the Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (West), Mumbai, showcased various coordinated combat drills using advanced surveillance ships, modern helicopters, and interceptor boats. Over 300 Coast Guard personnel actively participated in the operation.

DGP Dr Pranab Mohanty, Coast Guard DIG P K Mishra, Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner Darshan H V, zilla panchayat CEO Narvade Vinayak Karbhari, superintendent of police Dr Arun K, and Mangaluru police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy were among those present during the demonstration.
