Hyderabad college student dies by suicide; coach booked for alleged harassment

Hyderabad, Oct 10: In a tragic incident, a 19-year-old college student ended her life in Hyderabad on Thursday, reportedly after facing harassment from her volleyball coach.

The deceased, identified as Moulika, was a second-year student at the Railway Degree College in Tarnaka. According to a complaint filed by her father, the college’s volleyball coach, Ambaji Naik, had been harassing her and allegedly pressuring her to enter into a relationship with him.

Police have registered a case and begun an investigation into the incident. “No suicide note or video has been found so far. The victim had not informed her family about any harassment, but her friends have spoken about it. Two special teams have been formed to probe the case,” said the Station House Officer of Lalaguda police station.

The investigation is underway to determine the circumstances that led to the student’s death.
