Mexico City, Feb 12 (IANS/EFE) A mob in Mexico lynched two suspected kidnappers after they allegedly tried to abduct two high school students, officials said. A third kidnapper was saved by police.
Hundreds of enraged residents of San Mateo Huitzilzingo town near the capital surrounded the suspected kidnappers Friday night, and beat them with sticks and stones, shoved them inside a vehicle and set it on fire, said a spokesman for the State Security Agency.
Police fought their way through the crowd and rescued one man.
Media reports said police saw what was happening but could not prevent the vigilante mob from going through with the killings.
The Attorney General's Office said several people have been arrested.
