Lucknow, Oct 14: A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday night near the Outer Ring Road, Gosain Ganj police station area, where a young couple ended their lives by consuming poison inside a parked car. Despite being rushed to the hospital by family members, both succumbed during treatment.

The deceased boyfriend has been identified as 21-year-old Subhash Rawat, while his girlfriend was a 15-year-old schoolgirl studying in the 10th standard. Reports suggest the two were in a long-term relationship.

Police sources revealed that Subhash, an Ola driver, had left home to work on Sunday. Around 8 pm, he informed his brother Pankaj of the location and said that both he and his girlfriend had consumed poison in the car. The girl had left her home earlier, citing plans to attend a birthday party.

The couple had intended to marry, and Subhash’s family was supportive. However, the girl’s family refused the marriage citing her minor age, which reportedly led to the couple’s drastic decision.

The case was first reported by a trauma centre to Chowk police station on Monday, and the information was forwarded to Gosain Ganj police. The post-mortems have been scheduled as authorities continue their investigation.
