Patna, Oct 16: In a story that could easily inspire a Bollywood biopic, Niraj Singh, a 38-year-old entrepreneur from Bihar’s Sheohar district, has risen from humble beginnings to become the head of a ?400 crore business empire — and now, he’s stepping into politics as the Jan Suraaj Party’s candidate from Sheohar for the upcoming Bihar elections.
Born in Mathurapur village, Niraj’s journey is a testament to perseverance and grit. At just 13, after clearing his Class X exams, he began searching for ways to support his family. With no one willing to hire a minor, he started selling petrol and diesel locally to make ends meet.

A few years later, he moved to Delhi, where he worked as a security guard, before shifting to Pune to take up a job as an office attendant in a private company. His determination saw him rise through the ranks to become a human resources professional, and in 2010, he decided to start his own business — a move that would change his life forever.
Niraj established Usha Industries, which today manufactures bricks, tiles, and building materials, and has expanded into road construction and fuel retail. Headquartered in Motihari, his company now boasts a turnover of ?400 crore and provides employment to around 2,000 people.
From once borrowing bicycles from neighbours for errands to now owning a fleet of luxury cars including a Range Rover, Niraj Singh’s story has come full circle.
Despite his success, he has remained deeply connected to his roots. His supporters highlight his contributions to society — from funding weddings for underprivileged women to organising health camps and pilgrimages for senior citizens.
Armed with a law degree and driven by a desire to bring change, Niraj Singh is now channeling his energy into public service through politics, hoping to write the next chapter of his extraordinary life — one that could inspire millions across Bihar and beyond.
