State government hikes dearness allowance for employees ahead of Deepavali

Daijiworld Media Network- Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Oct 16: Sweet news for state government employees this Deepavali as the Karnataka government has approved a 2% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA).

The revised DA will come into effect from July 1, raising the rate from the current 12.25% of basic pay to 14.25%.

Typically, the state government announces DA revisions soon after the Central government declares its allowance hike for employees. Ahead of Vijayadashami, the Modi government had approved an additional 3% DA for central government employees.

The revision aims to offset rising inflation, with the Central government also approving enhanced DA for employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners. The state government’s move ensures that Karnataka employees benefit in line with central allowances, bringing festive cheer to thousands of families.
