SMVITM students secure second place at international-level hackathon

Udupi, Oct 18: A team of second-year students from the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, achieved remarkable success by securing second place at an international-level 24-hour hackathon held at Srinivas Institute of Technology, on October 9 and 10.

The winning team comprised Chethan V Kotian, Ashley Fernandes, Chethan U M, and Aditi Competing under the Computer Science and AI track. The team developed an innovative project titled ‘Real-Time Smart Queue Management System for Hospitals.’

The project focuses on improving patient flow in hospitals by leveraging artificial intelligence to manage queues efficiently, reduce waiting times, and enhance the overall quality of healthcare service delivery.

For their outstanding performance, the team was awarded a cash prize and received an internship offer from Swizosoft, recognising their innovation and problem-solving skills.

The management and faculty of SMVITM congratulated the students on their remarkable achievement and appreciated their efforts in bringing laurels to the institution on an international platform.
