Udupi, Oct 18: A major danger spot on the Kalsanka–Ambagilu Road near Silas School has turned into a daily nightmare for commuters and students, with a large pothole formed around a damaged manhole creating a serious safety hazard. Despite repeated complaints from the public, official apathy continues, putting hundreds of schoolchildren and daily commuters at risk.
Every morning, more than 100 students travel through this road to reach Silas School. The deep pothole surrounding the manhole forces vehicles to make sudden turns or drive dangerously close to the edge of the road. The absence of barricades or warning signs worsens the situation, especially during the morning rush hours when traffic density is high.

The problem escalates during night time and rainfall, as the water-filled pothole around the manhole becomes invisible to riders, leading to frequent skidding incidents. Two-wheeler riders are the worst affected, facing an increased risk of accidents due to the uneven surface and eroded tar.
Residents allege that despite repeated complaints and reminders, municipal officials have failed to act. Poor maintenance, constant vehicle movement, and official negligence have further deteriorated the road, turning it into a potential accident zone.
Locals have urged the authorities to take immediate action and repair the damaged stretch without delay. The continuing neglect by officials has drawn sharp criticism from the public, who demand urgent intervention to restore safety and prevent a possible tragedy on this busy route.
