Udupi, Oct 20: St Cecily’s English Medium Higher Primary (CBSE) School, Udupi ushered the festival of lights with a spirit of gratitude, happiness, and promises of brighter tomorrows.

Students of grades 6B and 6C hosted a luminous program to mark Deepavali and share the message of light and hope in the world. The stage was beautifully and meaningfully adorned reflecting the spirit and significance of the festival.

The students raised the curtains for the celebration with a devotional and melodious prayer invoking the Almighty’s blessings. In her heartwarming welcome address, Payal welcomed the chief guest -Sushmitha, faculty of the school, the principal Sr Lathika A C, vice- principal Sr Preethi A C and all the student attendees.

Then followed a vibrant sequence of variety entertainment presentations such as enthralling dances, melodious songs as well as a thought- provoking skit imparting the message “Light not fire crackers, but sparks of love, compassion and wisdom to dispel the darkness of hatred, anger and greed.”

The chief guest joined by the principal and all teachers lit the ceremonial diyas - symbolising the light of knowledge and wisdom imparted through education. In her inspiring address, teacher Sushmitha encouraged all to let their goodness shine through kind actions, words and smiles as one kind word, one good deed or one act of honesty would brighten someone's life. She also reminded the students that “Education is the lamp which guides every path of life.”

The glorious celebration concluded with words of gratitude presented by Mishel.
