Fr Bernard D’Souza Memorial free tailoring course ‘SAMANVAYA’ launched at Balkunje

Mangaluru, Oct 23: SAMANVAYA inaugurated the 28th Fr Bernard D’Souza Memorial free tailoring course for women, welcoming participants without barriers of religion, language, culture, or age. The ceremony took place at St Paul’s Higher Primary School, Balkunje, with Fr Paul Sequeira presiding and formally inaugurating the course.

A total of 37 participants were present at the inaugural event. The dais was graced by Teacher Rekha, Vice President Freeda, Secretary Nancy, Ayog Head Laveena, Women Association President Helen, School HM Sashi Kumar, and Samanvaya Director Fr Ronald.

Currently, 48 women from Balkunje are undergoing the free tailoring course, which is being conducted in memory of the late Fr Bernard D’Souza and is scheduled to conclude in March 2026.

The KCWA contributed by providing tailoring machines, supporting the practical training of participants. An inspection of the participants’ work was conducted on October 23, as part of the ongoing monitoring of the course at the Balkunje Parish.
