Goa man duped of Rs 7.28 lac in fake US job scam

Vasco, Oct 25: Vasco police have filed an FIR against a person accused of cheating a Quepem resident of Rs 7.28 lac by promising him a job in the United States.

According to authorities, the accused collected the money claiming he could secure employment abroad. Following the accused’s instructions, the victim traveled to Mexico, allegedly as part of the process to reach the US. However, upon arrival, he was detained by immigration authorities and later deported back to India.

After returning, the victim approached Vasco police, reporting that he had been defrauded through false promises of overseas employment. The investigation is currently underway.
