Mangaluru, Oct 26: The much-awaited Annual Sports Meet 2025 of the primary section of Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru was held on the school grounds on October 25, with immense enthusiasm and a vibrant display of sporting spirit.
The chief guest, Hardik Rai, a passionate national-level cyclist, was ceremoniously escorted to the main stage by the cubs and bulbuls of grade IV, accompanied by administrator Sr Carissima, head teacher Sr Reshma and PET Praveen Kumar. The event commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony, symbolising unity and pride, followed by a solemn prayer invoking divine blessings for the success of the day.
The chief guest, Hardik Rai, was then warmly welcomed by teacher Sujatha Lobo, with the presentation of a plant sapling, a gesture that reflected the school’s commitment to nurturing life and growth.















































The atmosphere grew more vibrant as the torch relay commenced, a symbolic moment that embodied the light of hope, strength and perseverance. The honour of carrying the torch was conferred upon four of the school’s distinguished young athletes, each a beacon of dedication and talent.
Leading the relay was Joshua Jais of Grade III A, an accomplished chess prodigy, followed by Shivanshi Santosh of Grade IV B, a state and district-level swimming champion. The third torchbearer, Ayush Prashant of Grade III E, is known for his mastery in various swimming styles.
Bringing the relay to a triumphant close was Shaina, another promising swimming champion, whose confident stride and radiant smile symbolized the indomitable Carmel spirit. As the gleaming flame was handed over to the chief guest, who then passed it to Shaina for placement in a prominent spot, it ignited a wave of excitement and pride across the grounds.
The oath-taking ceremony led by Amshuman M Shetty of Grade IV E reaffirmed the athletes’ commitment to fair play and true sportsmanship. This was followed by a colourful and synchronized drill display by students of Grades I to IV, which captivated the audience with its precision and rhythm.
The chief guest then declared the Annual Sports Meet 2025–26 open by releasing the house-colour balloons into the sky, a sight that filled the air with cheer and celebration. In his address, he inspired the young athletes to participate with passion, perseverance, and a positive spirit.
The day’s first event, the Duck Race for Grade II, brought laughter and delight to all present, after which the winners were felicitated by the chief guest. A heartfelt vote of thanks was proposed by teacher Laveena and the programme was elegantly compered by teacher Reshma.
As the formal ceremony concluded, the participants marched towards the sports ground for the final athletic events. The competitions unfolded with great enthusiasm, and the deserving winners ascended the victory stand to receive their medals and accolades, cheered on by their peers and teachers.
The Annual Sports Meet 2025–26 of grade I to IV was indeed a grand success, radiating the spirit of teamwork, perseverance, and joyful participation. It was a day that celebrated not only the triumph of winners but also the camaraderie, discipline, and vibrant energy that define the Carmel family.
