Car Blast: Abandoned Bike Found in South Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 15 (IANS): Delhi Police Wednesday recovered an abandoned red motorcycle from south Delhi's Lado Sarai area, an official said Wednesday, two days after a rider on a similar vehicle attached a magnet bomb on an Israeli embassy car.

An intensive search had been launched for the owner of the bike, a Special Cell police official told IANS.

"As a headway in the investigation into Monday's bomb attack on an Israeli embassy car, we have received information of a red abandoned motorcycle at Lado Sarai, near Mehrauli, which was found to be suspicious," the official said.

"We are finding out who is the owner of the bike. We are yet to confirm whether the bike was used in the blast," he added.

Shortly after the blast in Aurangzeb Road Monday evening, police detained five people owning red motorcycles. They were let off after questioning.

Four people, including the wife of an Israeli diplomat Tal Yehoshua Koren, were injured in the Israeli embassy car bombing Monday.

Basing their surmise on eyewitness accounts and CCTV footage, police said the assailant was riding a red coloured motorcycle and stuck a bomb on the Innova belonging to the Israeli embassy. Four people were injured, including the wife of the defence attache.
