Mangaluru: Police Martyrs’ Day commemorated at Carmel School, Kotekar

Mangaluru, Oct 29: Carmel School, CBSE, Kotekar, observed Police Martyrs’ Day on October 28 with deep reverence and gratitude to honour the bravery, courage, and supreme sacrifice of the police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.

The solemn occasion was graced by vice principal Sr Anitha and the guest of the day, Agnes D’Souza, a dedicated and respected retired teacher.

The programme commenced with a prayer service, invoking God’s blessings for the eternal rest of the martyrs and strength for their bereaved families. A graceful welcome dance by the students set a serene yet spirited tone for the event.

A student extended a warm welcome to the guest of the day, Agnes D’Souza, who has rendered 31 years of devoted service in the noble profession of teaching. She began her teaching journey at Fathima ALP School, Narampady, later served at Vidyodaya ALP School, Pavoor, and concluded her remarkable career at Mariyashrama ALP School, Talapady, from where she retired on March 29, 2009 after serving as headmistress for three years.

The highlight of the programme was a thought-provoking skit titled 'The Silent Guardians', a heartfelt tribute to the unwavering dedication and selfless service of the police force. This was followed by a speech on the significance of Police Martyrs’ Day, reminding everyone of the importance of remembering and honoring the sacrifices of our protectors.

A dynamic police dance performance captured the valor, challenges, and indomitable spirit of the police personnel. The chief guest then offered a floral tribute to the martyrs, followed by a moving performance to the song “Footsteps Walking with Me,” symbolizing the unseen yet constant guardianship of our police heroes.

In her address, Agnes D’Souza commended the students for their meaningful presentations and encouraged them to uphold values of courage, service, and gratitude towards those who ensure our safety and peace.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by a student, expressing heartfelt appreciation to all who contributed to making the programme a memorable one.

The observance of Police Martyrs’ Day at Carmel School left a profound impact on everyone present, instilling in young minds a deep sense of respect, appreciation, and gratitude towards the brave sentinels who safeguard our nation.
