Muzaffarnagar, Oct 29: In a tragic incident, a 24-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar allegedly died by suicide in Saudi Arabia while on a video call with his wife in India, police said on Wednesday.

The deceased, identified as Aas Mohammad Ansari, reportedly hanged himself from the ceiling of his residence in Riyadh on October 26 following a heated argument with his wife, Sania (21).

According to family members, Sania immediately informed relatives living in Saudi Arabia, who rushed to Ansari’s residence and found him dead.

A relative, Amjad Ali, said that efforts are currently underway to bring the body back to Bhopa village in Muzaffarnagar for burial. The couple had tied the knot earlier this year on April 7, and Ansari had left for Saudi Arabia about two and a half months ago for employment.

Family members said that the Indian Embassy in Riyadh has been informed, and necessary documentation is being processed for the repatriation of his mortal remains.

Police officials said they are probing the matter and trying to ascertain the cause of the argument that led to the tragic incident.
