Bantwal, Oct 29: A tragic road accident claimed the life of a car driver after the vehicle crashed into a divider on National Highway 75 near Melkar late on October 28.
The deceased has been identified as Karthik, a resident of Savanur. According to police sources, Karthik sustained severe injuries in the impact and succumbed on the spot.
The car was reportedly carrying four other passengers, who miraculously escaped without any injuries. The accident occurred on the newly constructed Melkar elevated road, when the driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle, causing it to ram into the central divider.
The Bantwal traffic police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal crash.
