Bhopal, Oct 29: The broad daylight killing of Bajrang Dal activist Nilesh Rajak in Katni, Madhya Pradesh, has triggered significant unrest, compelling the administration to issue prohibitory orders to regain control.
The victim, 35-year-old Rajak, a former 'Gau Seva Pramukh' (Cow Protection Chief) for the district, was reportedly shot dead by two unidentified men while standing near a bank in the Vijayraghogarh area on Wednesday. The murder, which occurred around 10:30 a.m. in the Kaimor police station area, caused panic in the locality.

• Arrests Made: Police swiftly arrested two suspects, identified as Akram Khan and Prince Joseph, following an early morning encounter. They are currently being interrogated by senior officials.
• Tragic Turn: The situation escalated further with the alleged suicide of the father of one of the suspects, deepening the mystery surrounding the horrific incident.
• Official Response: State School Education Minister Uday Pratap Singh, the Minister in charge of Katni district, rushed to the scene to meet with senior officials.
• CM's Directive: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav immediately directed the Katni district administration and police to take tough action against those responsible. He reiterated his strict stance on maintaining law and order, stating that "no criminal should be spared."
Police teams and forensic experts rushed to the spot, collecting evidence like spent shells and tire marks, and are currently scanning nearby CCTV footage to piece together the events. Following the killing, the local police station in-charge and a head constable were removed from active duty.
