Woman smashes train window after purse theft on Indore-Delhi express; video goes viral

Indore, Oct 30: A video of a woman furiously breaking the window of an air-conditioned coach aboard the Indore-Delhi train has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread debate over passenger safety and railway accountability.

The dramatic incident occurred on Wednesday after the woman’s purse was allegedly stolen during the journey. In the viral video, she is seen sitting with a young child beside her, repeatedly striking the coach window with a tray until the glass shatters completely, scattering shards across the seat and floor.

According to reports, the woman had initially approached the Railway Protection Force (RPF) for assistance in tracing her stolen belongings but claimed that officials failed to respond to her complaint. Enraged by the inaction, she returned to her seat and began smashing the glass in protest.

In the video, the visibly distressed woman can be heard shouting, “Mera purse chahiye… baat khatam!” (I want my purse, that’s it!), as railway staff and fellow passengers rush to intervene. Despite injuring herself on the broken glass, she continued hitting the window, while her frightened child remained seated beside her.

The clip has since triggered mixed reactions online — with some netizens sympathizing with her frustration after being allegedly ignored by the authorities, while others condemned her behavior for damaging public property and endangering her child.

Many users also raised questions about the RPF’s handling of passenger grievances and the lack of immediate response to theft complaints on long-distance trains.

Railway officials have yet to issue an official statement on the incident or comment on the allegations against RPF personnel.
