Bengaluru, Oct 31: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet before the special NIA court in Bengaluru against 11 accused in connection with the murder of right-wing activist Suhas Shetty, which occurred in Mangaluru earlier this year.
According to the chargesheet, the NIA has stated that the accused conspired to murder Shetty with the intent to spread terror, create fear among the public, and act out of long-standing enmity. The agency has identified the accused as Safghan alias Kavalur Safghan, Niyaz alias Nia, Mohammad Musameer, Naushad, Adil Mahroof, Ajaruddin, Abdul Khader, Kalandar Shafi, M Nagaraj, Ranjith, and Mohammad Rizwan.

Investigations revealed that Adil Mahroof allegedly financed the assailants involved in Shetty’s killing. The NIA stated that most of the accused are former members of the banned organisations Popular Front of India (PFI) and Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD).
Suhas Shetty was murdered on May 1, 2025, within the Bajpe police station limits in Mangaluru. Following the incident, the local police had arrested 12 individuals. The case was later transferred to the NIA by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for further investigation.
After completing its inquiry, the NIA has now formally filed the chargesheet against 11 of the accused before the special NIA court in Bengaluru.
The agency maintains that the killing was a deliberate act of terror intended to disturb communal harmony and instill fear in society.
