Udupi, Oct 31: The Department of Respiratory Therapy, Manipal College of Health Professions (MCHP), MAHE, Manipal, hosted RESCARE 2025, the annual conference of the Indian Association of Respiratory Care (IARC), from October 24 to 26.

The conference was officially inaugurated on October 25. The event was graced and presided over by Dr H S Ballal, pro-chancellor, MAHE, Manipal, and Dr Sharath K Rao, pro vice-chancellor (health sciences), MAHE, as the chief guest.

Dr Arun G Maiya, dean of MCHP, delivered the welcome address, highlighting the importance of advancing education and research in respiratory care. Dr Harish M M, president, and Dr Saumy Johnson, general secretary of IARC, represented the association, while Dr Pratibha Todur, organizing chair, outlined the objectives and significance of the event.

The three-day national conference brought together over 500 delegates from across India, including researchers, academicians, clinicians, and industry professionals. The scientific sessions, workshops, and panel discussions focused on emerging trends and evolving technologies in respiratory care, promoting innovation and collaboration between academia and clinical practice.

Dr H S Ballal and Dr Sharath K Rao emphasised the vital role of respiratory therapists in modern healthcare and the rapidly changing landscape of the profession in India. Dr Ifthikar Ali virtually spoke about the national commission for allied and healthcare professions and its growing scope. Dr V Ramkumar and Dr Anitha Shenoy, former head of the anaesthesiology and respiratory therapy department, delivered the keynote address.

RESCARE 2025 served as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and professional growth, reaffirming a shared commitment to advancing respiratory therapy education and practice nationwide.
