Mangaluru: Two-day Millets Festival inaugurated at Bendoorwell

Mangaluru, Nov 1: A two-day Millets Festival was inaugurated at the St Sebastian Platinum Jubilee Auditorium, Bendoorwell, adjacent to St Agnes College, Mangaluru.

The event is organised by Honeygenics Bee Farms in association with RO International, the Rotary Club of Mangalore Central, and the Parivarthane Foundation.

The inaugural session was graced by Fr Walter D’Souza, parish priest of St Sebastian Church, Bendoor, and Fr Patric Sequeira, parish priest of St Joseph’s Church, Borimar, as guests of honour.

Other distinguished guests present at the ceremony included Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld media; Michael D’Souza Dubai, NRI entrepreneur & philanthropist; Bhaskar Rai Katta, president of Rotary Club of Mangalore Central; Vikas Kotian, secretary of Rotary Club of Mangalore Central; Dayan D’Souza, founder of Daiji Dubai; Jayashree Rattihalli, advocate and legal consultant, Prolegis Associates, Mangaluru; Rohan Pereira Vamanjoor, founder of RO International; and Jackson Saldanha, trustee of Parivarthane Foundation, who served as the chief guest.

The festival features millet-based food stalls offering a variety of healthy delicacies from across Karnataka, a farmers’ market promoting local organic produce, eco-friendly home products, and a wide range of honey and natural items.

According to the organisers, the festival aims to promote nutrition, sustainability, and local goodness, encouraging visitors to explore the health benefits of millets while supporting a greener lifestyle. Entry to the festival is free and open to all.

Speaking to Daijiworld, Ashwin Sequeira, organiser of the event, said, “This is a unique festival for Mangaluru. Visitors can taste and purchase healthy millet-based delicacies brought from various parts of Karnataka. I invite the public to visit the venue and experience the flavour and health benefits of millets.”

Well-known emcee Sheldon Crasta compered the event.

The festival stalls will remain open from 8 am to 9 pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
