Mangalore, Feb 16: Dr M V Shetty Memorial Trust Colleges paid tribute to Dr V S Acharya, state higher education and Udupi district-in-charge minister who passed away in Bangalore on Tuesday February 14.

Dr M V Shetty Memorial Trust secretary Dr M Ramgopal Shetty, in his condolence message, stated that Dr Acharya was known to him since 1963 as a student in KMC, Mangalore.

“He was a person with great vision. Dr Acharya was liked and followed by many since his student days. As a youth, he actively participated in college union activities. He joined politics soon after his graduation. He held key portfolios including home, higher education, and medical education and served them all with dignity. All these departments got a great boost in his presence. As a minister he disposed off files in the earliest possible time,” added Shetty.

Rehabilitation Council of India retired Major General Ian Cardozo, Dr Pramila Mathew, Dr M V Shetty Trust trustees Dr Hima Urmila Shetty and Dr Rohila Shetty, Dr M V Shetty Trust Colleges student welfare officer Dr U T Ifthikar Ali, staff and students, paid condolences to Dr Acharya in one minute of silent prayer.
