Moodbidri, Feb 16: Krishnananda Shetty (19), a second year BBM student of Alva’s College here, lost his life in an unfortunate accident, which occurred near Mathada Kere in Beluvai on Wednesday February 15.

The victim was riding pillion on a motor bike driven by Ranjeet Shetty, when a car hit them. Due to the impact of the accident, Krishnananda Shetty was thrown onto the road, and got crushed under the wheels of a bus that was passing by the spot at that time. Ranjeet escaped with minor injuries.  He is being treated in a private hospital.

Krishnanands Shetty was the son of Halli Hebbagilu Pradeep Shetty, a resident of Alur village in Kundapur taluk. Ranjeet, who also hails from Alur, was related to the victim. Both of them had joined BBM course at Alva’s College, and stayed at Bunts Hostel in Karkala. As preparatory examinations were on in the college, both the students were rushing towards their college in the motor bike, when a Tata Nano car, which was being driven towards Karkala, reportedly hit them head-on. The pillion rider fell onto the road, when a private bus shuttling between Karkala and Moodbidri moved over his body. Krishnananda Shetty died on the spot.

A case was registered at Moodbidri police station. Investigation has begun.
