Jaipur, Nov 3: A scene of utter carnage unfolded in Jaipur's Harmara area this Monday afternoon after a high-speed dumper truck, reportedly driven by an intoxicated driver, went on a terrifying, uncontrolled rampage. The vehicle barreled through a stretch of approximately 300 meters, crushing a devastating total of 17 vehicles in its path.
The horrific incident, which occurred around 1:00 p.m. near the Loha Mandi in the Vishwakarma Industrial Area (VKI), has resulted in a staggering loss of life, with 12 people confirmed dead and over ten others injured.

The Crash and Immediate Aftermath
Eyewitness accounts paint a grim picture, suggesting the massive truck was hurtling down the road at speeds exceeding 100 km/hour before it suddenly lost all control. It became an unstoppable force, slamming into cars, motorcycles, and pedestrians in rapid succession. The sheer force of the collision was devastating; bodies were tragically mutilated, with limbs severed, and multiple corpses lay scattered across Sikar Road. The vehicles targeted were reduced to crumpled heaps of metal, with blood visible across the entire accident zone.
Police reported that the empty dumper continued its destructive trajectory for about 300 meters before finally coming to a stop. A police official confirmed, "It kept crushing vehicles and people in its path."
Driver Apprehended and Investigation Underway
Locals quickly cornered and detained the driver at the scene before handing him over to the police. Preliminary findings strongly indicate the driver was intoxicated at the time of the deadly crash, and he is currently in police custody for intense questioning.
Top city officials, including Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal and Additional Commissioner Rahul Prakash, immediately rushed to the location with senior traffic personnel. Rescue efforts were massive, involving cranes and ambulances, and continued for hours to clear the extensive wreckage and rush the injured to medical care. The most critically wounded were transferred to the SMS Hospital Trauma Centre, where staff activated emergency protocols for the mass casualties.
Public Outcry and Calls for Safety
The tragedy sparked an outburst of anger among locals at the crash site, who staged a protest demanding the immediate construction of an underpass or safety barrier to prevent similar future disasters. Authorities eventually managed to calm the agitated crowd.
Meanwhile, a crucial piece of evidence—CCTV footage—has emerged, showing the terrifying moment the dumper veered out of control, uncontrollably crushing everything in its wake. Authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the full circumstances of the catastrophic accident. More details are anticipated as the probe continues.
