Zakaria Jokatte to donate entire Rs 5 lac Rajyotsava Award to five humanitarian organisations

Mangaluru, Nov 4: Non-resident entrepreneur and Rajyotsava Award recipient Zakaria Jokatte has announced that he will donate the entire Rs 5 lac cash prize he received along with the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award to five humanitarian service organisations.

He stated that Sanidhya Residential School for the Mentally Challenged, Mangaluru; Snehadheepa HIV-affected Children’s Home, Bondel; Snehadham De-addiction Centre, Thalapady; Lady Goschen Karunya Scheme of M-Friends Charitable Trust; and Hidaya Colony Centre for Specially Abled Children, Kavalakatta will receive Rs 1 lac each. 

The amount will be distributed during a civic felicitation programme being organised by the Zakaria Jokatte Abhimanigala Balaga in November.

The Karnataka government honoured Zakaria Jokatte — a philanthropist, NRI entrepreneur, and president of M-Friends Charitable Trust — with the prestigious Rajyotsava Award on Karnataka Rajyotsava Day. Chief minister Siddaramaiah, deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar, Kannada and culture minister Shivaraj Tangadagi, and CM’s political secretary Nazir Ahmad presented the award, which included Rs 5 lac cash, a 25-gram gold medal, a citation, and a memento.

Zakaria’s gesture of donating the entire award amount towards humanitarian causes has been widely appreciated.
