Perseverance pays off: Sanskriti Trivedy’s six-year journey to becoming an IAS officer

Bihar, Nov 5: The journey to cracking the UPSC Civil Services Examination is often described as a test of endurance and determination. For Sanskriti Trivedy, a native of Jamui, Bihar, the path to success was anything but easy — yet her perseverance transformed repeated setbacks into an inspiring victory.

A political science graduate from Gargi College, Delhi University, Sanskriti pursued her master’s in International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Driven by a clear goal to join the civil services, she began preparing for the UPSC exam soon after completing her studies.

Her early attempts were met with disappointment — she couldn’t clear the prelims in the first two tries. In her third attempt in 2021, she reached the mains but fell short of selection. Undeterred, she continued her preparation and, in her fourth attempt, secured an All India Rank of 352, earning a place in the Indian Defence Accounts Service. Many would have stopped there, but Sanskriti pressed on.

After years of disciplined study, often dedicating up to 15 hours a day, her sixth attempt in 2024 finally brought her the success she had long envisioned — she secured an impressive All India Rank 17, achieving her dream of becoming an IAS officer.

With political science and international relations as her optional subjects, Sanskriti’s consistent effort, time management, and unwavering focus turned her long pursuit into a story of triumph. Her journey stands as a reminder that persistence, not speed, defines true success.
