Srinagar, Nov 5: Jammu and Kashmir lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday articulated a new vision for the Union Territory focused on fear-free peace, prosperity, and unity, where every citizen benefits from India’s rapid progress.
Speaking at the two-day International Symposium on 'Peace, People and Possibilities in Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory', organized by Vishwagram, a non-profit promoting education, compassion, and art, the LG highlighted the transformative journey of J&K over the past five years.
“The peace visible today allows everyone to flourish with mutual respect, equal opportunity, and dignity. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, we have prioritized people-first policies, social justice, and equality, transforming lives across this crown jewel of the nation,” Sinha said.

He emphasized that the region has moved from violence to vibrancy, with schools echoing children’s laughter instead of conflict, and towns like Pulwama, Shopian, and Kulgam evolving into cultural and literary hubs. Popular markets such as Lal Chowk and Polo View are now thriving with renewed vitality.
Sinha called on all sections of society to unite against elements seeking to disrupt peace, tackle drug addiction, and prevent youth radicalization, stressing adherence to the rule of law as essential for sustainable progress.
The symposium was attended by prominent figures including Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, Swami Jitendra Saraswatiji, Prof. Nilofer Khan, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Prof. Geeta Singh, senior civil and police officials, academicians, and a large gathering of youth.
