Karkala: Pedestrian dies, five students injured after car overturns near Belman

Karkala, Nov 6: A tragic road accident claimed the life of a pedestrian and left five others seriously injured near Belman in Ajekar on Wednesday evening.

The mishap occurred at Kanjarkatte -Peralpaade when a speeding car lost control and hit a pedestrian identified as Suresh (45), a resident of Kanjarkatte. Due to the impact, the car overturned, resulting in serious injuries to five occupants.

According to sources, the vehicle was carrying five MBA students from a private college who were travelling towards Mangaluru. The pedestrian, Suresh, was walking home along the roadside when the car struck him. He sustained critical injuries and succumbed to them on the way to the hospital.

Local police rushed to the spot soon after the incident and have registered a case. The injured students were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Further investigation is underway.
