Mulki, Nov 7: In a tragic incident, a young entrepreneur, Abhishek Alva (25), son of Naveen Chandra Alva from Thiruvail Guttu, Vamanjoor, on the outskirts of Mangaluru, ended his life by jumping into the Shambhavi river near Bappanadu bridge close to Mulki.
According to reports, Abhishek had travelled from Mangaluru by car and stopped near Bappanadu bridge on Thursday morning before jumping into the river.
When Abhishek did not return home until late night, his father, Naveen Chandra Alva, lodged a missing complaint at Padubidri police station. During the subsequent search operation, Abhishek’s car was found near Bappanadu bridge. On Thursday night, professional diver Eshwar Malpe, ACP Srikant of Mangaluru, and police personnel from Mulki and Padubidri carried out search operations till midnight but were unable to locate him.

The search resumed on Friday morning, and local resident Sachin Naik, who was searching by boat, spotted the body near Chandru Shanubhag’s Kudru in the Mulki police station limits.
Local divers, swimmers, and NDRF personnel retrieved the body, which was later shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru by ambulance. Mulki police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
CCTV footage from the Bappanadu check-post near the Dakshina Kannada district border shows Abhishek Alva’s car crossing the area at around 3:30 am on Thursday.
