Udupi: ‘Vijanana Vismaya’ Community Radio Programme - Season 1 held at SMVITM

Udupi, Nov 7: The inaugural ceremony of ‘Vijnana Vismaya – Community Radio Programme - Season 1’ was held on November 5 at Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal.

The programme was graced by Dr Rashmi Ammembala, assistant professor and coordinator of Radio Manipal (CRS), Manipal Institute of Communication, MAHE, Manipal, who served as the chief guest.

In her inaugural address, Dr Rashmi Ammembala emphasized the importance of community participation and inclusion in communication. She highlighted that community radio serves as a bridge connecting people, knowledge, and culture, empowering local voices to share ideas and bring social awareness. Dr Rashmi inspired students to explore creative communication platforms and contribute meaningfully to the community through innovative programmes.

The event was presided over by Dr Nagaraj Bhat, in-charge principal and dean (Academics), SMVITM. In his presidential remarks, Dr Bhat appreciated the initiative taken by the institute to launch a community radio-based learning programme and commended the efforts of faculty coordinators and students in conceptualizing and organizing Vijnana Vismaya. He remarked that such initiatives foster communication skills, confidence, and a sense of social responsibility among students.

The ceremony was attended by Megha Rani, assistant professor (Senior), department of AI and ML and coordinator, Women Empowerment Cell (WEC), Sachin Prabhu, assistant professor (Selection Grade), department of ECE and coordinator, NSS/YRC, faculty members and students from various departments.
