Puttur, Nov 7: The police have arrested an accused for allegedly submitting fake documents to a court to fraudulently secure bail for another person.

According to reports, the accused misrepresented an RTC (Record of Rights, Tenancy, and Crops) document belonging to a Puttur resident as his own and presented it before the Principal district and sessions court, Dakshina Kannada, Mangaluru, to obtain bail for another accused.

In connection with this, a case has been registered at Uppinangady police station for cheating and forgery.

Following the investigation, the police arrested Abdul Hashim (34), a resident of Paduvannuru village, Puttur, on November 6. He had allegedly created fake documents, forged signatures, and submitted them to the court with the intent to deceive, along with a valuable security bond.

The accused was produced before the court, which has remanded him to judicial custody.
