India’s most wanted gangsters Venkatesh Garg, Bhanu Rana arrested abroad

New Delhi, Nov 9: In a major breakthrough for Indian security agencies, two of the country’s most wanted gangsters — Venkatesh Garg and Bhanu Rana — have been arrested overseas. While Garg was caught in Georgia, Rana was detained in the United States, officials confirmed.

Both fugitives, who were operating international crime networks, will soon be deported to India. The arrests are part of a coordinated operation involving Indian security agencies and the Haryana Police.

Garg, a native of Narayangarh in Haryana, has over 10 criminal cases registered against him, including the murder of a BSP leader in Gurugram. He fled to Georgia after the crime and was reportedly recruiting youth from Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, and other northern states. Garg is known to be a close associate of Kapil Sangwan, another gangster operating from abroad, who runs an extensive extortion network.

Meanwhile, Bhanu Rana, originally from Karnal, is a key aide of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. He has long been active in criminal activities across Haryana, Punjab, and Delhi. His name also surfaced during the probe into a grenade attack in Punjab, where two men arrested by the STF Karnal in June claimed they were acting under his orders.

Officials said the twin arrests mark a major success in India’s global crackdown on gangsters who fled overseas to run syndicates remotely. Over two dozen Indian gangsters are still believed to be operating from foreign countries.
