CM Rekha Gupta leads roadshow ahead of MCD Bypoll nominations

New Delhi, Nov 10: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday led a spirited roadshow in support of BJP candidate Anita Jain ahead of her nomination from the Shalimar Bagh B ward for the upcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) bypolls.

Addressing supporters, Gupta said the BJP’s victory in all 12 wards going to bypolls on November 30 was essential to ensure the continuation of development across Delhi.

Before becoming Chief Minister, Gupta had represented Shalimar Bagh B ward and was elected MLA following the BJP’s victory in the Delhi Assembly polls earlier this year. She accused previous governments of neglecting civic development due to political rivalries.

“We want every ward in Delhi to remain neat, clean, and well-developed. Our aim is public service, and we are contesting these bypolls with the blessings and affection of the people,” Gupta said.

The BJP has fielded candidates in all 12 wards, including eight women contenders. The party had earlier held nine of these wards. Senior BJP leaders, including MPs, MLAs, and Ministers, also participated in processions across various constituencies as candidates filed their nominations on the last day, November 10.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress have also announced candidates for all 12 seats, setting the stage for a keen electoral contest later this month.
