School principal arrested for bribery


Shimla, Feb 16 (IANS) The principal of a Kendriya Vidyalaya school in Shimla district was arrested Thursday on bribery charge, police said here.

Kendriya Vidyalaya ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) principal Sudha Gupta was caught by the vigilance and anti-corruption bureau while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.8,000 from a school teacher.

She had allegedly sought the money to extend the teacher's contract, Deputy Inspector General Himanshu Mishra said.

Gupta is posted at Sarahan, some 150 km from here. The school is specially meant for the children of ITBP personnel.
