Udupi: Charity initiative ‘Trinity Medicare Service’ to offer 50% discount on dialysis from Nov 16

Udupi, Nov 11: The launching ceremony of a new charity project ‘Trinity Medicare Service’ to provide dialysis treatment at a 50% concessional rate for underprivileged kidney patients of Udupi district, will take place on November 16, at 11 am in the Milagres Church Hall, Kallianpur.

The initiative is a joint venture of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh in association with entrepreneur Joseph Menezes of Sasthan, and with the support of Freeda Rego and Basil Pinto.

The programme will be presided over by Ronald D Almeida, president of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh. The chief guest will be Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop of Udupi diocese. Other guests of honor include senior physician Dr Megha Pai, renowned orator Rafeeq Master, vicar general of Udupi diocese Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves and entrepreneur and philanthropist Joseph Elias Menezes.

In the initial phase, the dialysis service will be available at Goretti Hospital, Santhekatte, Kallianpur, and Mahesh Hospital, Brahmavar. Plans are underway to extend the service to hospitals in Karkala and Kundapur shortly.

The scheme is open to patients from all religions and communities across Udupi district. Eligible patients can apply through their respective local Catholic Sabha units with a recommendation letter. Upon registration, beneficiaries will receive an official ID card allowing them to avail of dialysis treatment at 50% discounted rates in the designated hospitals.

Under this scheme, patients will bear 50% of the dialysis cost, while the remaining 50% will be covered by Joseph Menezes and his team through the Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh.

Joseph Menezes and his family are already known for their charitable contributions through the Snehashalaya Charitable Trust’s Manna Project, which has been providing free lunch to patient attendants at Wenlock Hospital, Mangaluru, for several years. The family has pledged to sustain the entire project for the next 100 years. Continuing their commitment to social welfare, they have now taken another step forward with this noble health initiative benefiting dialysis patients.
