Two arrested, 50–60 kg explosives seized In Faridabad

New Delhi, Nov 12: In a major breakthrough, Haryana police arrested two individuals and recovered 50–60 kilograms of explosives during raids in Sector 56, Faridabad, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

The operation comes a day after a car blast near Gate No.1 of Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening, which claimed eight lives and injured several others. The vehicle involved was a Haryana-registered Hyundai i20.

Details of the Operation

The Crime Branch led the Faridabad raids, seizing a substantial quantity of explosives and apprehending two suspects. The action follows earlier crackdowns on terror modules linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, where police had seized 2,900 kg of explosives along with arms and ammunition.

Officials said that recent arrests of two Jammu & Kashmir doctors, Adil Ahmad Rather and Muzammil, connected to these terror outfits, likely triggered the blast due to panic within the module.

Legal Actions and Investigation

A case has been registered under UAPA Sections 16 and 18, along with provisions of the Explosives Act and several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The Union Home Ministry has handed over the investigation to the National Investigative Agency (NIA). Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

Security Measures

As part of heightened security, Delhi Police have closed Gate Nos. 1 and 4 of the Lal Qila Metro Station for public movement while continuing to probe the incident. Officials emphasized that all possible angles are being examined to piece together the sequence of events leading to the blast.

This operation marks a significant step in the ongoing investigation into one of the most serious terror-related incidents in Delhi this year.
