New Delhi, Nov 12: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday strongly condemned the car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, declaring it a “heinous terrorist incident” carried out by anti-national forces.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, addressing a media briefing after the Cabinet meeting, said, “The country has witnessed a heinous terrorist incident perpetrated by anti-national forces through a car explosion near Red Fort on November 10.”

He said the Cabinet directed that the probe into the attack be conducted with “utmost urgency and professionalism” to ensure that the perpetrators, their collaborators, and their sponsors are swiftly brought to justice.

“The Cabinet unequivocally condemns this dastardly and cowardly act that has led to the loss of innocent lives. It reiterates India’s unwavering commitment to a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,” Vaishnaw added.

He also said the government appreciated the statements of solidarity and support from several countries following the attack.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) to review the situation and the ongoing investigation into the blast.
