Giridhar Salian clinched gold medal IN 23rd AMAC

Mangaluru, Nov 13: Dr Giridhar Salian, a native of Kavoor, Mangaluru bagged the gold medal in the Javelin throw (M60 category) at the 23rd Asia Masters Athletic championship held at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium Chennai, on November 9.

The 23rd Asian Masters Athletics championship commenced on 5th and concluded on November 9, at Chennai Tamil Nadu. Altogether 3312 athletes have participated from 22 Asian countries, in which 2246 were Men and 1066 women participants. Masters Athletics Federation of India (MAFI) hosted Asian Masters Athletic Championship after 19 years. The last Asia Master Athletic Championship hosted by MAFI was in 2006, at Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru.

Earlier this year, Dr Giridhar Salian had clinched the gold medal in javelin throw event of “World Masters’ Games-2025”, usually recognised as Masters Olympics, which was held at Taipei Stadium, Taiwan.

He is an Alumnus of NITK Surathkal, presently working as the Director Karnataka German Technical Training Institute KGTTI, Mangaluru and Karkala.
